What is CIO-CS?

The CIO-CS (Chief Information Officer - Commodities and Solutions) contract is a contract vehicle operated by NITAAC (National Institute of Health Information Technology Acquisition and Assessment Center). NITAAC operates three Government Wide Acquisition Contracts (GWACs), of which CIO-CS is one.

CIO-CS can be used by a federal civilian or Department of Defense agency to procure IT solutions and services. The solutions and services are procured from a list of pre-qualified vendors at below-market prices. The majority of CIO-CS opportunities are for healthcare-related IT products and services. Intuitively this makes sense when you consider that the CIO-CS contract vehicle is operated by NITAAC.

NITAAC also operates the CIO-SP3 and CIO-SP4 small business contracts that focus on services related to Information technology, whereas CIO-CS is focused on hardware/software procurement.
